The month of May is exiting and bring on the June opportunities.
I must admit the Connections Conference in Clearwater Beach, Florida was just what the doctor ordered.I would like to say thank you to the staff of Meeting and Events who put on the excellent agenda of speakers and exhibitors.I encourage everyone who is interested in growth opportunities to commit to attending the Connections Convention in Las Vegas this September 29, 30, and October 1 when Connections makes another opportunity to expand our knowledge within our industry.
At this Florida Connections Conference, the PCUCA booth was the envy of all the other Associations as it was the only booth appropriately decorated with a tropical theme.New in our booth this year was a fundraiser to help raise money for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society who focuses on cancer research and finding a cure. One of our members Barry Costa of Aspire Educational Institute is a great advocate for this charity and we wanted to extend our support to him and to this cause that affects so many people’s lives.Over the course of three days of trade show and the dinner cruise, we were able to raise over $1000 for this outstanding charity.A special thank you to Board members Andrew Conklin, Clark Griep, Sam Castro, Steve Douma, and Travis Chancey for their time and efforts working in our booth to raise money for this cause and especially to board member Clark Griep for his untiring work of fundraising that continued on throughout the dinner cruise. And a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who donated money at this event. This is really an outstanding and worthy cause for the PCUCA and our industry to get behind and raise funds to discover a cure. We hope to continue efforts to raise money at future shows.Thank you all!
Personally I came away with the most new knowledge from the presenter Gary Ryan Blair with his book “Everything Counts”.I signed on for his 100 days coaching and have received excellent material about getting focused on my goals.I must confess I still have more really dynamite ideas that I have yet to pull out of my notes, however, I know that taking action outweighs indecision by one thousand times.Feel free to contact me if you would like more information about the Connections Events.
On April 17 – 20, I attended the IICRC Board meeting in Vancouver, Washington.I was impressed by the tone of the Board meeting as well as the training that was presented to Board and Committee members. The IICRC will continue to be a strong force in our industry with the leadership of our president Patrick Winters. We will hear more about a National Trade Association of our industry lead by the IICRC.We may encounter some uncomfortable changes, however, I believe we will come out of this transformation of a NTA as a strong solid voice which will represent our industry with the credentials of science and one unified voice for the general public to respect and draw upon.
PCUCA has continued offering education this spring as we just completed another Lead Certification RRP Course and the largest IICRC AMRT course that has ever come to Denver with 48 students! Both courses were held at Interlink Supply in Denver. I know there are many companies benefiting from these educational courses.PCUCA believes that it is important that in our industry we are trained to be professionals in this in all aspects of mold and the proper remediation, as well as changes that arise in our industry.I would encourage each member to be continual learners in their companies and lead with enthusiasm. We become what we think about most of the time, so make your thoughts filled with excellence and always keep an eye open to see when new opportunities come your way.
In closing if you have any suggestions for education that you would like to see come available, please email me at dave@yellowvan.com and I thank you for being a member of the PCUCA.
