From the President

Welcome to 2010!

I would like to express how grateful I am to work with the dedicated board of the PCUCA. My appointment to the position of President to the PCUCA makes 2010 the best of opportunity for me to serve our industry. I want to recognize the many hours put in by the past boards, way back to the beginning over 33 years ago. It is because of the vision of our organization founders and the legacy of the many board members over the years that have brought about the changes in our industry. Our PCUCA Bylaws were ratified on October 18, 1976 and now over 33 years later we continue to have a voice in our industry.

I would like to thank the members of the Board who are serving Sam Castro, Greg Chancy, Travis Chancy and our newest members Steve Douma and Clark Griep, as well as those who are leaving the Board having served well, Div Manual, and Jim Goldsworthy. These men have volunteered their knowledge and time and have always brought forth their best efforts. They attend meetings and conventions to show they are true leaders in our industry. Thank you to all of these committed individuals. I would also like to thank our Past President Andrew Conklin. Andrew has put in many countless hours to the PCUCA as a Board Member, while also representing our association as the PCUCA Connections Board Representative over the past two years. Andrew will continue on as our representative on the Connections Board in 2010. Thanks for all you have completed and I look to your leadership as Past President.

With the prospects of a great year for the PCUCA it is time to look back and reflect on the things that worked and to evaluate and possibly discard those things that were distractions to our main goals in the PCUCA. Membership and Membership involvement must be the focus of our Association. It is thru the members that we gain strength and knowledge as any association. I like to think of Napoleon Hill’s book “Think and Grow Rich” that speaks of the “Mastermind Group” People of likeminded thinking that are focused on the success of each person in the group. It is good to be involved with positive likeminded thinking people that allow us to move in a much stronger and quicker resolve to our goal.

One such example of this type of activity is the Ronald McDonald House which several of our members participated this past year. This is really a great project of “Service above Self” by providing the service of carpet cleaning.  At the Holiday celebration at the Heritage Square Music Hall I was able to meet four of our guest who two PCUCA members donated tickets for the Dinner Theater. They have been in the Ronald McDonald house for seven years with their son requiring over 72 surgeries in that time. They are from Armenia and with their volunteer driver and guide; they were taking a break from the demands of their life and joined in our celebration. I appreciate the blessing of good health and the opportunity to meet a family (mom and 2 boys) who were thankful for the very breath of their very sick son. Over seven years away from home, it truly brings me back to reality of how difficult their journey has been. Thank you to the PCUCA for seeing this opportunity to serve.

I would like to encourage all our members to be active in their association. Help by sharing your many years of experience, it can be a true benefit to each of us as business owners and industry leaders. My phone is always open and emails are appreciated.  Remember continual learning is always a priority; please make an effort to keep current in your education as well as the education of your employees.

 Kindest PCUCA regards,

Dave Keiter
