A unique two-day program that provides restorers and remediators with the training needed to inspect buildings and develop a preliminary determination consistent with the IICRC S500 and S520. Appropriate documentation limits liability; helps to develop an accurate scope; and provides the basis to generate accurate and well documented invoices. Additionally, by identifying pre-existing conditions and other building related issues, restorers can minimize complaints and potential litigation.

• March 17th, 2010 - MANDATORY New Lead Regulation:  Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP)- Featuring John Banta, Restoration Consultants

 After April 22, 2010, the EPA requires that restoration work in buildings that potentially contain lead based paint must be performed by RRP Certified Renovators taht work for RRP Certified firms.  This applies to residential structures and publicly occupied buildings constructed prior to 1978
To become certified, renovators must successfully complete an EPA accredited renovator course.  The EPA's New Renovation, Repair, and Painting Final Rule (40 CFR 725) holds renovators to the following criteria:
-  Renovation firms must be certified
-  Certified and trained workers must be used for any jobs where lead is present in pre-1978 residences.
-  Specific work practices must be followed when performing work in buildings built prior to 1978
-  Non-certified workers must work under and be trained on-the-job by a Certified Renovator
-  Renovators must educate owners/occupants

• April 8th & 9th, 2010 - IICRC Carpet Cleaning Technician (CCT) Featuring Shawn Bisaillon

The Carpet Cleaning Technician 2 day course teaches the fundamentals of carpet cleaning. Topics include fiber types and characteristics, fiber identification, carpet construction and styles, dyeing at the mill, soil characteristics and the chemistry of cleaning. This course will also introduce the technician to the 5 methods commonly used in carpet cleaning. The differences between the CCT and CMT courses are, basically, a focus on either general or residential versus commercial applications.

April 10, 2010 - Optional FREE Hands-on Day

Shawn will offer a FREE optional third day of this course where students will go on location to have hands-on experience. The third day is limited to the first 15 students MAX and students must attend the first two days to attend the third. This is a great opportunity to put your new skills to work and it is only offered with this course!

May 18th - 21st, 2010 - Applied Microbial Remediation Technician - Featuring John Banta, Restoration Consultants

A 4-day course that provides restorers with the necessary tools to perform mold & sewage remediation. Mold contamination has been identified as a major contributor to building related illness & poor indoor air quality. Without proper mitigation of a water loss, mold can become a problem in less than 48 hours. In addition, the effects and handling of sewage back-flow has become a major concern for the restoration industry. This course includes hands-on training. The AMRT/S Exam is offered at the conclusion of the course.
